Sam (Serop) Sarkisian, 84, passed away Monday, March 23, 2015, on his birthday. Born March 23, 1931, in Cleveland. Sam was a graduate of Shaw High School, class of 1949. He went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1953. Sam earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering at Fenn College and went on to work for General Electric, Keithley Instruments, Ohio Nuclear, and was instrumental in the development of MRI technology. Sam (Serop) Sarkisian, 84, passed away Monday, March 23, 2015, on his birthday. Born March 23, 1931, in Cleveland. Sam was a graduate of Shaw High School, class of 1949. He went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1953. Sam earned his degree in Mechanical Engineering at Fenn College and went on to work for General Electric, Keithley Instruments, Ohio Nuclear, and was instrumental in the development of MRI technology. He retired from Invacare/Advanced Technologies and was involved in the design and manufacturing of current racing wheel chairs. Sam had a passion for life and enjoyed spending time with his family and many friends, including Apollo, his cat. He took great pleasure in cars, skiing, bowling, boating, perch jerkin' and his special music. Sam is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Francine (nee Schillace); loving father of Cheryl, Linda (Frank) and Stuart (Beverly); adoring grandfather of Britni, Frankie and Anita; his devoted brother, Henry (AKA Haig); mother-in-law, "Min"; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and brothers and sisters-in-law. Sam was preceded in death by his parents, Krikor and Elizabeth (nee Kaprielian) Sarkisian. A Celebration of Sam's life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015, at St. Christopher's by the River Church in Gates Mills.
